It’s nice to know that this site still rocks. Top searches include the Nissan Skyline, Skyline and Mercerdes. Actually it was really my intention to develop this along the line of Skyline and a smattering of Audi cars, like the sexy Audi R8. Is the Nissan Skyline about to be released this year? I’m lost..Been very busy.
The current Nissan Skyline 350 GT that’s available in the market is sold as the Infiniti G35. Aside from the North American market, the Nissan Skyline/Infiniti G35, this car is also sold in South Korea, Taiwan and the Middle East. This car is an entry-level luxury car/midsize car that’s produced by Nissan’s Infiniti. This is Nissan’s own luxury division. The Skyline/Infiniti G35 is available in sedan and in coupe. This car from Infiniti is available in two generations and a 2005 refresh.
The first generation of the G35 was introduced in the North American market as a replacement for the Infiniti G20. The car is based on the platform that is shared with the Nissan 350Z sports car and the Infiniti FX crossover SUV. When this car was introduced in 2003, the car received positive reviews from critics and was also seen as a good alternative to the more expensive luxury cars that are available during that time. Some of the awards generated by the first generation G35 include a citation for North American Car of the Year and this was included as well on Car and Driver mag listing for Ten Best for 2003 and 2004.
The first generation of was refreshed for 2005. Much of the improvements were done on its styling. The interior of the G35 was given sportier gauges with better backlighting. The tinted interior trim was replaced by genuine aluminum trim. The dash and the center console was re-styled as well. The Rosewood trim was now available as a package on the 2005 refreshed version. Entertainment packages in the form of the MP3/WMA playback was added to the car. Brakes was improved as well as a response to concerns of premature wear on the 2003-2004 models.
The second generation of the G35 was introduced in 2007. This car was powered by a new engine, the VQ35HR. The HR stands for High Revolution.
Based on some initial tests, the soon-to-be released GT-R from Nissan was considered as among the fastest ever productions cars at the Ring. That feat was announced by Nissan last month after the supercar has achieved 7 minutes and 29 seconds at the Nurburgring in Germany. This strip is also known as the Ring. The feat by Nissan GT-R was achieved last April 16 and 17. The GT-R used for testing was a base specification car and then fitted with the standard Japanese market tyres. The test drive was initiated by chief test driver Tochio Suzuki. The lap time netted by the new GT-R easily edged out the previous fastest time for the GT-R by nine seconds. The previous lap time was also made possible by Suzuki.
The all-new GT-R has been delivered in Japan that started in December 2007. Sales in other countries like in US and Canada start in July and will extend to Europe and other markets in the span of 12 months.
A quick scan of the blog stats reveals that a lot search for the Nissan Skyline, one of my dream cars. I just love the look and the performance of this car, love it the very first time I saw this car on the 2 fast, 2 Furious movie that stars Paul Walker. The Skyline that was used on the movie was actually an R-34. The first one that was driven by Paul Walker on the movie was the Nissan Skyline GT-R BNR34 in aqua metallic. The next one is the 2003 House of Kolors Platinum Pearl with Blue Nissan Skyline GT-R BNR34.
The Skyline GT-R from Nissan is actually a Japanese sports coupe’ based from the original Nissan Skyline. The GT-R V spec model and the GT-BNR34 Skyline GT-R that was used on the movie was made shorter and the front wheels were made closer to the front if to be compared with the earlier generations of the Skyline. The new feature on the R-34 GT-R is the 5.8″ LCD multi-function display on the center of the dashboard that shows seven different live readings of engine and vehicle statistics such as the turbo charger pressure, and oil and water temperatures. The GT-R V-spec model on the other hand has two added features on the screen- the intake and the exhaust gas temperatures. Nismo Multi-function Displays or the MFD included the lateral G meter, a lap timer and an increase in boost pressure measurement to 2 bar. It come equipped with the ATTESA E-TS Pro system and an Active LSD at the rear and the standard GT-R on the other hand come with the non-Pro system and a conventional mechanical differential.
I am what you consider a newbie when it comes to cars and car technologies; that is why when you mention to me the Nissan Skyline my first impression would be racing on the road courtesy of the Need For Speed series. In fact almost all vehicles that I truly like right now are products of that iconic game series from EA Games.
So why am I focusing on the Skyline today? Since this blog of mine is partly an exposition of the cars that I like and love, I would like to continue my listings of the best cars for me. Now you should know by now that vehilce styling and the aesthetic value of the car forms part of the greater score, with performance coming in next.
A Little Background on the Skyline.
The Skyline is a midsize car that was first introduced in the market in 1957 thru the efforts of Prince Motor Company. The car has been known to be a product of Nissan since Prince Motor and Nissan had merged in 1966. Right now, the Skyline is also being marketed as the Infiniti G35. Though the Skyline has been offered in different generations since its birth in 1957, the one that I truly like is the R35 or the new R35 GT-R that was released in Japan on October 24, 2007 as part of the Toyota Motor Show. Based on their projections then, this model is expected to be released this year as the 2009 model. Though this is a Nissan Skyline, this particular model loses the ‘Skyline’ tag.
The All-New R35: Without ‘Skyline’
The GTR features a new VR38DETT V6 twin turbo engine, but not without the traditional inline-sixies on all GT-R models. A full description of the 2009 Skyline GTR will follow on my next blog entry.
