Would You Pay $11M for a Ferrari?

Well, somebody just shell out close to $11 million just to get this Ferrari. A  1961 Ferrari California Spyder was recently sold for $10,894,900 at an auction in Maranello, Italy. According to RM Auctions and Sotheby’s, the amount is the highest price ever paid for a vintage car in an auction. The previous record of the most expensive car in an auction was held by a Ferrari as well, the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO and this car fetched $10,756,000 in 1990. The high price of the Ferrari was a reflection of the strong demand for vintage Ferraris in Europe. It was noted that in recent months, Ferraris have been selling privately between collectors for amounts exceeding $11 million. But what makes the California Spyder extra special aside from the fact that this is a Ferrari? This car was once owned by James Coburn, an actor. Coburn bought the car in 1964 shortly after finishing the movie, ‘The Great Escape’.
