According to the manufacturers here, the market is better off as the industry managed to gain growth even though a crisis is present. Though the sales was short of target, the industry leaders still said that they are satisfied with the performance of the industry for 2008. According to the data that was released by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc or the CAMPI, the industry moved 124,449 units short of the targeted 125,000 units for 2008. Though short, this was still an improvement from last year by 5.5 percent. Toyota Motors Philippines Corp is the top dog of the industry cornering 36.9 percent of the market. Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp followed with 14.1 percent. Honda Cars Philippines, Inc took the third spot with an 11.5 percent share of the market.
