A cute little, compact and powerful (I think) Nissan car has been unveiled recently. What I am talking about is the Nissan 370Z Roadster. In terms of looks and performance, the Nissan 370Z Roadster is similar to the Z coupe of Nissan. The car will be powered by the especially-tune engine and suspension and will be fitted with the super light weight 19-inch wheels with the Yokohama Advan Sport rubber. The car is equipped with 350-horsepower V6 engine that uses the Variable Valve Event and Lift Control. This will deliver better intake of air, thus promises better power output. Other information can be accessed here.

Why do i love a number of great Nissan rides? Well other than the Nissan GT-R, this 2008 Nissan Z is another favorite of mine. The car’s design and aesthetics alone made me decide that I like this one. Haven’t checked the performance just yet, but by the way we see this Nissan Z we know that the 2008 Nissan Z is not your ordinary car. Nissan gets a unique tag line for the 2008 Nissan Z- Last letter, first in performance. If given a chance I will go for the 2008 Nissan Z Nismo Coupe. This Nismo Coupe has the Nismo-tuned sports suspension and powered by the Rays wheels. This 2008 Nissan Z Nismo Coupe will also have an enhanced aerodynamics kit and body weld reinforcements.

According to some reports, Nissan may forecast a loss to as much as 1 billion USD. Based on the report, the announcement of that loss may happen this Monday when Nissan announces the third quarter earnings. The figures will reflect the slump that is happening in auto sales right now and this is also a reflection of the impact of the stronger yen. It is not just Nissan who has this problem. As reported too, rival Toyota Motors Corporation will be handed its first operating loss since World War. Nissan is Japan’s third largest automaker. The supposed ‘loss’ of Nissan is actually based on the survey conducted among analysts.
The latest news on Nissan is that the company is now also lining up for help. The company is now also seeking a federal efficiency loan in the US and this is the only Japanese car maker to do so. To be exact, Nissan is seeking the federal loan under the US program for the fuel-efficient automobiles and the company is competing with General Motors Corporation, Ford Motors and Tesla. The source of funds will be the Energy Department and loans will be taken out from the $25 billion fund. These will be the source of the low cost loans which can be given to succesful applicants in one or two months. The rules for the low cost loans has been finalized last November and the department got 75 applications for projects and the overall project cost $38 billion. Of the 75, only 25 were considered as substantially complete.

This page will rot if this is not updated, so here it goes. Bringing pedaltothemetal back to where it belongs. As usual lots of posts will be focused on my fave cars like the introduction of 2009 Nissan GT-R, my Audi R8-naks, and of course a smattering of coupe’s from Lexus, BMW and Mercedes. Nissan and Audi are Kings for me, of course. Bringing this back to life after more than 3 months of hibernation. Just right, no?

The competition among automakers in the environmentally-friendly car sector is heating up, amid the growing concerns for climate change and the escalating prices of petrol. This recent developments has pushed some automakers, particularly General Motors and Ford to rethink their profits and at the same time to rethink their productions. Ford is about to cut its production of the pick-up trucks and GM is set to re-evaluate some of its models, particularly its Hummer. But it isn’t just the American automakers who are taking hits and making adjustments. Japanese car makers are in it as well, and one automaker that is serious in making its move and making it matters is Nissan.
Nissan in its bid to introduce cleaner vehicles using cleaner technology is set to introduce the Nissan X-Trail sport utility vehicle that will feature a new diesel engine in Japan in September. This move by Nissan will enable the company to effectively meet the new emission regulatory standards that is set to take effect in October 2009. Japan is set to introduce a new emission regulatory standards that is known as the ‘Post New Long-Term Regulations by 2009. Now in order to beat this regulation, Nissan plans to introduce the cleaner version of the X-Trail. To make its introduction formal, the X-Trail is to be introduced at the G8 Summit. Delegates and members of the media that will attend the summit will have the opportunity to test drive the X-Trail and see related technology exhibits.
The technology used on the new X-Trail was co-developed by Nissan and Renault. The M9R engine that the X-Trail uses incorporates a number of technologies. Some of the technologies incorporated on the engine include the Piezo-electric controlled injectors, the Commonrail system, variable nozzle turbos, diesel particulate filters, lean NOx-trap catalysts, sophisticated control-system for precise modulation of the DPF and catalysts in tandem with driving conditions.
The development of this kind of vehicle or technology is under the Nissan Green Program 2010.

Nissan takes DUI and drunk-driving related injuries seriously. That is why, the company is set to design and to produce a concept vehicle that takes in ‘mind’ a drunk and an intoxicated vehicle so that injuries and fatalities related to drunk driving may be reduced. The concept vehicle in the mind of Nissan engineers will be the Nissan Fuga sedan. This sedan will showcase multiple advanced technologies that are designed to help reduce drunk driving, and of course the injuries related to it. This so-called proof of concept vehicle was developed to research and then showcase the breakthrough technologies that can be applied potentially on Nissan vehicles so that these can be introduced in the market in the near future. It was explained that based on the concept, the key in preventing these kinds of injuries is by preventing the intoxicated driver from getting on the road. The research vehicle of Nissan will be equipped with an alcohol sensor that is built into the transmission shift knob that can effectively detects the presence of alcohol based on the perspiration coming from the palm of the driver. Of course there will be a designated threshold for the allowable alcohol content in the body of the vehicle, so the moment the alcohol sensor on the knob detects that the concentration is way above the set threshold, the system will effectively lock the transmission and will then immobilize the car. The Nissan vehicle will then gives a voice alert thru the navigation system that will explain why the vehicle is locked and immobilized. Aside from the alcohol sensor fitted at the shift knob of the vehicle, the ride will also features odor sensors that are built into the driver’s and the passengers’ seats that will effectively detect the presence of alcohol in the air of the vehicle’s cabin.
It isn’t just the odor and thru the sweats of your palm. Your behavior can be the basis as well. The concept car Fuga of Nissan has technologies that can detect behavior that’s related to drunk driving. There will be a facial recognition system that can monitor the driver’s awareness through the blinking of the eyes. There will also be a technology on board that can monitor the behavior of the vehicle and see if the vehicle is veering off the lane. If there will be signs that show inattentiveness or drowsiness that is related to drunk driving, then the vehicle will provide visual and audible alerts. Seat belts on-board the vehicle will be then tightens in order to gain the attention of the driver.

Driving under the influence, and the injuries sustained thru it is a big headache and cost a lot of dollars, time, inconveniences and lives as well. That is why government regulations are in place as to control the issue and to lessen the incidence of DUI and injuries sustained thru it. What is often referred to as driving under the influence of alcohol or otherwise known as DUI is the act of operating a vehicle after having consumed alcohol, or other drugs to a degree that the mental and the motor skills of the driver will be impaired. Right now all the 50 states in the US and Puerto Rico apply two statutory offenses to driving under the influence of alcohol. The first and considered as the original offense is known either as the driving under the influence DUI, driving while intoxicated DWI or could be operating a vehicle while intoxicated. The offense if of course based upon the observation of the police officer with regards to the driver’s behavior, speech and the result of the roadside sobriety test. The second statutory offense is called the illegal per se that is driving with a BAC of 0.08 percent or higher.
Offenses such as these are closely monitored since driving under the influence and drunk driving causes a number of injuries and cost lives at times. Just how serious is this issue and how important it is to monitor drivers on the road? Just imagine these figures that I researched on the net. In 2006, there were 13,470 fatalities in crashes that involves alcohol-impaired driver. That driver that’s involved in those accidents have been found to have BAC of 0.08 percent or higher! This figure accounts to 32 percent of the total traffic fatalities for 2006. There were 16,005 people killed in the United States in alcohol-related motor vehicle crashes and the drivers of these vehicles had BAC of 0.01 or higher. The 13,470 alcohol-impaired-driving fatalities for 2006 were almost the same if you compare it to the 13,451 alcohol-impaired-driving fatalities that are reported in 1996. This only means that the 10 year progress has yielded the same results and it seems that the campaigns and the rules set up by the government and other institutions have failed. It is for this reason that in order to curb drunk driving-related injuries, laws should be really enforced, public information drive and participation should be done and of course, private entities should also do its share. Thankfully, there is one auto manufacturer that takes drunk-driving and drunk-driving related injuries seriously. That’s Nissan. So how does Nissan fits in the picture? What is Nissan’s role in all this?
