Nissan GT-R Update

Nissan GT-R

Based on some initial tests, the soon-to-be released GT-R from Nissan was considered as among the fastest ever productions cars at the Ring. That feat was announced by Nissan last month after the supercar has achieved 7 minutes and 29 seconds at the Nurburgring in Germany. This strip is also known as the Ring. The feat by Nissan GT-R was achieved last April 16 and 17. The GT-R used for testing was a base specification car and then fitted with the standard Japanese market tyres. The test drive was initiated by chief test driver Tochio Suzuki. The lap time netted by the new GT-R easily edged out the previous fastest time for the GT-R by nine seconds. The previous lap time was also made possible by Suzuki.

The all-new GT-R has been delivered in Japan that started in December 2007. Sales in other countries like in US and Canada start in July and will extend to Europe and other markets in the span of 12 months.

Get to Know the Nissan Skyline

A quick scan of the blog stats reveals that a lot search for the Nissan Skyline, one of my dream cars. I just love the look and the performance of this car, love it the very first time I saw this car on the 2 fast, 2 Furious movie that stars Paul Walker. The Skyline that was used on the movie was actually an R-34. The first one that was driven by Paul Walker on the movie was the Nissan Skyline GT-R BNR34 in aqua metallic. The next one is the 2003 House of Kolors Platinum Pearl with Blue Nissan Skyline GT-R BNR34.

The Skyline GT-R from Nissan is actually a Japanese sports coupe’ based from the original Nissan Skyline. The GT-R V spec model and the GT-BNR34 Skyline GT-R that was used on the movie was made shorter and the front wheels were made closer to the front if to be compared with the earlier generations of the Skyline. The new feature on the R-34 GT-R is the 5.8″ LCD multi-function display on the center of the dashboard that shows seven different live readings of engine and vehicle statistics such as the turbo charger pressure, and oil and water temperatures. The GT-R V-spec model on the other hand has two added features on the screen- the intake and the exhaust gas temperatures. Nismo Multi-function Displays or the MFD included the lateral G meter, a lap timer and an increase in boost pressure measurement to 2 bar. 2009 Skyline GT-R

Skyline GT-R Concept

The Nissan GT-R Concept

This is no ordinary supercar, well at least if we are to believe the press releases that go with this car. This supercar is designed to be a two-door and a four-passenger car and an all-wheel sport coupe. the car features a 3.8 L DOHC twin-turbocharged V6 VR38 engine that features the plasma sprayed bores and a special twin-turbo exhaust manifold system. Aside from the fact that the Nissan GT-R is a car for peformance, this car is also designed to be safe and environment friendly. This assertion is validated by the fact that the GT-R meets ultra-low emission vehicle standards in Japan.

Speaking of safety technologies; among the technologies that are present on the all-new GT-R are the high-mounted LED stoplamps, bright LED rear combination taillights, super wide beam headlights, heated door mirrors and flat-blade wipers.

Coming as a standard on the GT-Rs are the pop-up engine hood system, driver and front passenger SRS Air Bag System, ELR front seat belts with tension reducer, front seat belts with load limiter and the three-point ELR rear seat belts. For the music lover in your, there is the specifically-designed BOSE sound system that includes the two forward facing woofers in the rear center arm rest area then reinforced with the door speakers as well. These speakers are mounted on rigid aluminum die cast panels.

The car’s body is crafted from a combination of steel, carbon fiber and aluminum that effectively provides that unique combination of stiffness and lightness. For more information as to the other features and the pricing of this GT-R, just visit this site.

The GT-R is expected to be grouped with all the other supercars out in the market such as the 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo, but without the sticker price shock. This year, Nissan is expected to deliver the GT-R to the North American market.

Skyline’s Fast Facts

I am what you consider a newbie when it comes to cars and car technologies; that is why when you mention to me the Nissan Skyline my first impression would be racing on the road courtesy of the Need For Speed series. In fact almost all vehicles that I truly like right now are products of that iconic game series from EA Games.

So why am I focusing on the Skyline today? Since this blog of mine is partly an exposition of the cars that I like and love, I would like to continue my listings of the best cars for me. Now you should know by now that vehilce styling and the aesthetic value of the car forms part of the greater score, with performance coming in next.

A Little Background on the Skyline.

The Skyline is a midsize car that was first introduced in the market in 1957 thru the efforts of Prince Motor Company. The car has been known to be a product of Nissan since Prince Motor and Nissan had merged in 1966. Right now, the Skyline is also being marketed as the Infiniti G35. Though the Skyline has been offered in different generations since its birth in 1957, the one that I truly like is the R35 or the new R35 GT-R that was released in Japan on October 24, 2007 as part of the Toyota Motor Show. Based on their projections then, this model is expected to be released this year as the 2009 model. Though this is a Nissan Skyline, this particular model loses the ‘Skyline’ tag.

The All-New R35: Without ‘Skyline’

The GTR features a new VR38DETT V6 twin turbo engine, but not without the traditional inline-sixies on all GT-R models. A full description of the 2009 Skyline GTR will follow on my next blog entry.
