DBS: When the Road Meets the Track

DBS Logo

The Aston Martin takes the limelight once again as this car will be featured once again in the newest James Bond film that stars Daniel Craig. In fact the customized DBS takes center stage once again as the super car takes a minor detour towards the bottom of a lake, near Northern Italy. The problem is that this isn’t part of the script; the driver lost control of the vehicle and drove it towards the lake. The car takes a beating and a problem arises as there is only one available customized Aston Martin DBS that can be used by the movie’s producers.

The Aston Martin is described as a rare breed of car. In fact its manufacturer call the car as a car that bridges the gap between the road and the track. The car is equally at home on the twisting road circuit as on the open road. This super car of the Aston martin features a 6.0 Liter V12 powered engine and is a two-seater car. Interior design is well-complemented by exquisite interior and high technology. The hand-built engine of the DBS can deliver 380 kW or 510 bhp/517 PS. The DBS is the first production car of the Aston Martin that makes extensive use of the ultra-light carbon-fibre body panels. The car is easy to maintain as well, thanks to its special construction. Just like early DBR9 and the DBRS9, the car makes use of the Aston Martin class-leading all-alloy VH vertical horizon architecture, a lightweight bonded aluminum structure that can deliver outstanding strength and rigidity.

Aside from performance, design and better control; expect the Aston Martin DBS to offer better entertainment on and off the road as well. This model features an iPod integration. A complete integration package for iPod digital media players of Apple is included and effectively allows for iPod to be incorporated into the car’s dash. The iPod range is integrated into the DBS via the specially-designed interface. The DBS can max at 191 miles per hour or 307 km/hr. The car can accelerate from zero to 100 km per hour in a matter of 4.3 seconds. The in-car entertainment aside from your iPod will include the Aston Martin 700W Premium Audio System with Dolby Pro Logic II which includes a six cd autochanger. A USB connector with Waveform Audio Format, a Windows Media Player and an MPEG MP3 audio file capability are also included.

This car was initially seen on the James Bond flick, 2006 Casino Royale. This car officially replaces the Vanquish S as the flagship model of the Aston Martin. This was officially unveiled at the 2007 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance that featured a new exterior color, a graphite gray with blue tint often called the Casino Ice. A new DBS convertible is set to be introduced to the market.

Bond’s DBS Take the Plunge

Bond’s service car, the Aston Martin DBS takes the news once again as it takes a plunge. Nope, it wasn’t even part of the script.

Aston Martin DBS

It was supposed to be an ordinary day for driver Fraser Dunn, to take the Aston Martin DBS to the set for the filming of the new James Bond movie. But what happened next was a movie-worthy scene; the driver took the DBS to the bottom of Lake Garda. The accident happened on Saturday morning near the Quantum of Solace set in Northern Italy. Based on news reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle and ploughed through the crash barriers bordering the lake. The Aston Martin as with other Bond cars, has a special role on the current Bond film. This $265,000 vehicle is specially customized for its role in the movie and this is the only model that is available for the film’s producers.

The movie, Quantum of Solace will be Daniel Craig’s second Bond film in the franchise.
