New Mercedes E-Class will keep you from falling asleep

How about coffee when you are about to fall asleep when driving? This is just one of the many cutting edge safety features on the new E-class to be delivered by Mercedes Benz. Other safety features incorporated on the model include night vision, blind spot connection and adaptive cruise control. All of these features are seen as well on the Mercedes Benz S550 but what makes the new Mercedes E-Class unique is the presence of the Attention Assist- ensures that you will not fall asleep on the road! This safety feature uses 70 parameters to check if the driver is sleeping. And once it detects that the driver is starting to fall asleep, there will be a warning tone and a coffee cup icon will light up on the dashboard. Among the parameters used in this new Mercedes safety feature are the steering-wheel input and the driver’s ability to make sharp corrections.

Porsche dismisses VW demand

News reports have it that Porsche Automobil Holding SE has rejected the ultimatum that was made by Volkswagen AG and the German state of Lower Saxony to finally made a decision and merge with VW. In a statement that was made by the Porsche Supervisory Board Chair Wolfgang Porsche and Deputy Chair Uwe Hueck, they said that they don’t want to get blackmailed and said that the pressure on them will not help in the discussions. It seems that the company wanted to proceed with the talks on its own terms without pressure coming from the outside. And the demand comes as intrusive and highly irritating for them, and the two added in the statement that the ‘ultimatum don’t belong in the 21st century’. White revolution

White is the new green, so they say.And all you have to do is to paint the roof of your house white, and you can do your part in saving the planet. The idea of the move is simple- by effectively painting roofs white in the hot parts of the world, this can effectively reflect huge amount of solar radiation back into space and in the process can address the problems posed by green house gases, which is the same problems posed by cars. The idea actually comes from the top man of President Obama on global warming. According to Steven Chu who is the US Secretary of Energy and also a Nobel prize-winning scientist, painting the roofs and the pavements white or in any light-colored paint can help address global warming and this can also help conserve energy. By doing this step according to Chu, this is equivalne to taking all cars off the road for a period of 11 years. If this is indeed true, then this is  a perfect initiative to help the planet don’t you think?

Why auto insurance quote shopping is needed

So you finally got your own nice sporty car or a reliable pick-up courtesy of huge discounts given by the dealers right now. You may probably think that expenses will end there, well except for oil. You’re wrong. There is another cost that needs to be taken care of and every vehicle driver should be aware of this one- it’s the auto insurance. Others may think that the auto insurance is another expense, but you should think of this one as a long term investment and a protection on your part. This can protect you from personal liability the moment you are involved in an accident. If you wait and let time pass and you are involved in a road accident, then the cost of having the insurance rises up as well. Plus, a good number of states will require you to get and apply for insurance so there is no escaping this contract.

Since this is one thing that is needed on and off the road, the suggestion for many drivers is to face this head-on and to exhaust all-possible means to get the best car insurance online. This means asking around and doing some research in order to get low car insurance rates yet with the best coverage. Asking around and comparing the auto insurance quotes of insurance providers can be considered as the best thing to do. Doing this gives you more choices, and allows you to choose and do business with the site that offers the most competitive insurance quotes. And if you get the best rate, you no longer need to break the bank or sell assets just to cover the cost of the insurance. This is the reason why shopping for insurance should be done online- it’s easier to go from one provider to the next and easier to compare quotes.

Most satisfied with Cadillac, Lexus LS

It is a common question asked right after a person can purchase his or her own car-“how do you like your next car?” This is a good question because not all of those who purchased their car last time were really happy with their purchases; some are disappointed and some would definitely ask for more. This is what a research firm wants to know, to know which car gets the best satisfaction coming from owners. So in order to test customer satisfaction, auto research firm Auto Pacific asked 25,000 car owners whether or not they were satisfied with their recent car purchase. You want to know the results?

For the second straight year, Cadillac ranks highest among new owners of cars. Cadillac took home the ‘Highest Satisfaction Brand’ award. Hyundai on its part bagged the ‘Rising Star’ plum, thanks to its movement as it bypassed 11 brands to arrive at the Top 5 for the first time.

For specific cars that get the highest satisfaction, prepare to pay more for Lexus LS. The Lexus LS sedan series bested its field average by 99 points.

Chrysler deals to lookout for

For those looking for discounts, then now is the right time to start getting one. There are hundreds of Chrysler dealerships that are expected to close by June 9th, and since they are closing in less than 3 weeks this means that cars on their displays and parking lots are for sale tagged at great discounts. This is good news for shoppers who love Chryslers, but sad news for the dealers who will have to say goodbye to their businesses. Around 789 dealerships around the country have lost their franchise agreement with Chrysler. How serious are these discounts?  It is said that though prices of vehicles may not go down by 50 percent, some expect that a good percentage of vehicles’ prices can be slashed by 30 percent. But in a more realistic computation, the prices can be discounted by 10 to 15 percent. Now this is good news to those really looking for better discounts these tough times.

The June 9 is the deadline for these dealerships to unload their inventory to other dealers or to consumers. In ordinary times, Chrysler can buy back the unsold units but since the company is in bankruptcy then it can no longer do that.

This is the carmaker’s worst annual loss.  But according to the company, Toyota will be in deeper financial problem this year. Representatives of the company said that the financial issues of the company can be linked to the slump in global demand and the presence of the strong yen. They said that a strong yen makes exports from Japan more expensive. The company sees that this economic situation will stay on for a while, and  Katsuki Watanabe, Toyota’s President said that “It will take more time before the financial markets in the US and Europe normalize and the global economy recovers.
